a red, white and blue quilt with a star design on the center is shown

I have two Lone Star quilts to share with you today and they were made by Florence who will be giving them to her granddaughters for their graduation this June. The first one is made in pinks and greys and the inner grey border has a very pretty feather print. Lots of flowing feathers and CC’s in the diamond shapes to give it wonderful texture. The second one is made in bolder colour palette of blue, green and purple fabrics and quilted very similar to the first one.

I mentioned here that I made a center block for three different medallion quilts. Two are Marcelle Medallion blocks from the medallion pattern in the Liberty Love book. The third was for the design as you go Medallion project we’re currently working on with the Utah County Modern Quilt Group. For that block I decided to make a lone star [...]

This is my very first Moda Bake Shop design and I'm so excited to bring it to you. Inspired by the lone star block tutorial at the Hopeful Homemaker and modified to use the oh-so-popular jelly roll, it's a great way to bring a contemporary spin on such a traditional quilt design! I used the delicious Feed Company by Sweetwater for this quilt with the tone on tone white gingham for the background. I'll warn you, this is not necessarily a quick quilt. But, by taking your time through the steps…

The Happy Scrappers met again Wednesday at the Attic Window Quilt Shop. Most of us continued working on the Lone Star Spiral Quilt that we started last Saturday. It really was a full working day. Above is Catherine’s mock-up of the quilt she is going to make. Of course, our wonderful teacher Vickie was there to guide us every step of the way. I can’t say enough about Vickie’s teaching skills. I would never have attempted a quilt like this without her by my side. Above Vickie demonstrates how…

I’ve had several people ask me how they can make their own Scrappy Lone Star. I’ve put together this chart, so you can make a variety of sizes from 16″ to King-sized. The top port…

Pictures - Lone Star Quilt..... - Okay, let's say this Lone Star quilt has taken me way too long to get done. But, the results are well worth the wait, I think. This is Nan and Joe's quilt - this is my second quilt for them. It is always a pleasure to work with Nan and Joe - they are the sweetest couple and the nicest

Welcome to the last day of the Island Batik Ambassador Lone Star Quilt challenge. If you've been following along, there have been some absolutely stunning quilts created. If you haven't as yet, I'll be posting a round-up of all the quilts next week. So, the Lone Star Quilt... as with many of the challenges Island Batik has set us this year, I'd not made a Lone Star quilt before. I always knew that I wanted to make one of these quilts - some day - but in all likelihood, it would probably…

the finished quilt is laid out on the floor

In March I had the pleasure of taking a class with Kimberly Einmo at the Indiana Heritage Quilt Show. She is a friendly, gracious teacher. She willingly shares her sewing tricks and tips and answers any question, even when entirely redundant. She guided those whose skill wasn't really up to the prerequisite so they could find success. Really, I thoroughly enjoyed my day with her. The class I took was for her popular Lone Starburst quilt. You needed a jelly roll or equivalent amount of strips…
