This tends to happen when we emphasize “leading with the elbows”, which keeps the dumbbell lower than the elbows throughout the movement. If we want to feel stronger, more confident, and safer with this exercise, the key is to “lead with the hands” or “lead with the weights” rather than the elbows! When you “lead with the weights”, you can keep the weights at or above the level of your elbows
