Bantam/Vintage edition, first published in 1974, of the 1960 classic, "Born Free" by Joy Adamson. The story of Joy and Elsa the African Lion represented an idyllic view of man and beast, and ranks up there with other cross-species stories of the 1960s--Flipper (dolphin) and Gentle Ben (Black Bear). The book was made into a movie and I can still hear the title song in my head. I read this edition (but this is a recent thrift store find), although I recall my parents reading earlier editions…
