With a Valentine's twist, this simple Kandinsky Heart Art Project for kids encourages children to explore colour mixing and colour combinations.

This year I wanted to begin promoting kindness from the very beginning of the year. I searched this summer for the perfect book and I found it. A Little Spot of Kindness written by Diane Alber was just what I needed to create kindness activities for my room, and set the stage for an amazing year.

This art project is inspired by a series of books by Rachel Bright. During the month of February, we focus on kindness, love and friendship so this story is a great way to set the stage.

2nd grade students created a black & white background paper writing nice and positive words all over it in different directions, styles, and thickness. Then students choose the paper color to trace and cut out for their hand and wrist, as well as for the heart to hold.
