A Relationship Matrix Diagram is a type of graphical representation that shows the relationships between different entities by laying out the matrix in a logical structure. It can be used to visualize and understand complex relationships between entities, providing visibility and insights into how different elements interact with each other.

Grid: Equally spaced, perpendicular streets. Need not consist of straight lines. Simplifies subdivision of land for agricultural and urban use. Well suited to level ground, but can be adapted to sloping ground. Radial: Directs flow from a common center. Beltways allow through traffic to bypass the center to alleviate congestion. Linear: Useful where development is restricted by natural topography (narrow valley) or parallels with existing transportation artery (railroad, freeway).
