In most of the renovations we feature here on Apartment Therapy, the homeowners are hoping for a more modern look. It was a little different for Fairfield, Iowa homeowners Lauren and Dennis. After making the initial decision to remodel their kitchen, they decided that what the space really needed was to look older, not younger. They even started working on this room two hours after closing on the house! From Kelly: To say that it was a labor of love is an understatement.
The entire kitchen remodel took about one month. Courtney and her husband were able to do most of the work themselves, calling in a pro only to install a new dishwasher and refinish the floors (part of a whole-house project).
I have decided to start a series! Each Monday I’ll be doing a Mid Century inspired post including anything from house tours, furniture pieces, artwork, or anything else MCM. To kick it off, here is a shoot of our St. Charles cabinets in the kitchen (thank you to my sister and her skills — AmandaKnonerPhotography on IG). I opted to keep all the doors shut because of my mess of cups and dishes, but the inside of these custom St. Charles Cabinets are just as cool. Pull out drawers, built in…
