Jess Zander, The Garden Coach🌺 on Instagram: "Got it!?😂😬This topic can be so confusing so you’re not alone if you’re confused. Unfortunately a lot of people cut down the big leaf hydrangeas because they think those stems are dead. Often they aren’t so DO NOT cut these down in the fall or early spring. It seems crazy but you should wait until mid-May to make sure. To control the size, you can pry pieces off, which is essentially dividing them, or you can cut off the tops or sides. I sometimes cut off the dead flowers in the spring to make it look a little neater but they fall off on their own and new growth will come up around them so you don’t have to do this. Don’t cut much farther downthough, or you’re cutting off the buds and do go in every so often and remove those dead stems t

Never pluck, always trim the stem just above a leaf Some other helpful tips: 4. Use an XL saucer or bowl. It will drink what it needs! 5. Repotting into a bigger pot will mean a bigger basil! Use normal potting soil. You can split supermarket plants into multiple pots if you want. 6. This works best in the warmer months and indoors 7. Basil loves a sunny spot 🌞 8. Wait a month or so before you trim 9. Give it time - these plants are three months old 10. Once it’s big, trimming will keep your basil healthy and bushy. Trim off any flowers immediately! 11. I use terracotta pots and water impermeable saucers. 🎥 @goodboneslondon 🎵 @timbal

Homegrown Florida / Petrina Steacy on Instagram: "Cucumber vines full of flowers but no fruit yet? It’s probably a pollination issue. 🌱 Here’s how to fix it: ✔️ Find the male flowers (no tiny fruit behind them) ✔️ Find the female flowers (tiny baby cucumber behind the flower) ✔️ Take pollen from male and lightly touch the center of the female flower A little matchmaking, garden-style. 🌼🍃 #HandPollinateCucumbers #CucumberGrowingTips #FloridaGardening #GrowYourOwnFood #GardenHacks"
