I chose this picture because it reversed the gender roles that society has put in place. Traditionally, men were the ones who went out to work and women would stay home, cook, clean, and care for the children. In the picture, however, the woman is portrayed as a physically strong, working individual and the man is represented as a stay at home, dependent person. In a way, I like the picture because it subverts stereotypes set in place for men and women, but in a way, I feel like it also…

Stereotypes put groups of people into specific boxes. Not only can this limit someone's self-expression, but it can also encourage power and control based on the idea that masculinity is associated with being the one in charge. Controlling someone in a relationship and using gender roles to do so is never okay.
