Challenge #203 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round" with TSOT Sketch 682

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #203 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round" and combining it with our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday #682 which starts on October 28th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for inspiration and to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges. Twisted Sister wanted us to include at least one bird and I chose to use a flamingo from patterned papers.

The sketch is similar to a Side Fold Card and have previously made this fold using Mary Deatherage tutorial. After making the fold you just have to decide what you want to use from your stash to use the "Round and Round" 3-2-1 recipe (3-circles, 2-images, 1 Ribbon).

I started with my background using patterned paper with flamingos for Twisted Sister's optional twist to use at least one bird. Vellum with circles was adhered to top of the two patterned papers to soften the background.

Two sets of the triple circle die were cut... one for a pink frame and the other cut matching and lining up with one of the flamingos from the patterned paper. The negative cut was then attached to the pink frame and adhered to the background with 3D thin foam tape for dimension and no vellum which gave the tri-circle a spotlight affect.

I don't use ribbon very often and have a small supply in my stash... I got lucky and found this pink ribbon with transparent ruffles and attached to the larger panel.  The sentiment was made with die cut letters and thought Aloha would be appropriate for this card.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Round and Round" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. Check out the Design Teams inspirations, optional twists and dare and let us see what you create... hope to see you there.

Then hop on over to our sister challenge,Try a Sketch On Tuesday to check out the Design Teams inspiration, and you may want to consider using their sketch with our 3-2-1 recipe.

TSOT #680 with DTC #201 3-2-1 Recipe "S.A.E."

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch #680 and combining it with out Sister Challenge, Double Trouble #201 3-2-1 Recipe "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing"

While looking through my stash I found another Halloween stamp, never used, and thought this would be a good time to create another Halloween card. One of the stamps was a corner spider web stamp which I used to create a frame and still give me the cross-over design.  I then stamped four spiders to embellish the background and cut a black panel for my focal point.

My focal point consisted of a ghoul, ghost and a fun pun sentiment, adhered to the black panel using glue and 3D thin foam tape for dimension. The panel was then adhered to stamped background with 3D thin foam tape, background bordered with black and adhered completed layout to a card base. Oh, and why not blacken the eyes with white highlight, blackened noses of stamped images and add some pink cheeks to the ghost.

Stamped a column of spiders on the r-h border on the inside of card base. What a fun time creating this ghoulish card... hope y'all enjoy it too.

DTC Challenge #201 3-2-1 Recipe "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" with TSOT #680

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #201 3-2-1 Recipe "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing" and combining it with our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday #680) which starts on Sep 30th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges and show how easy it is to participant in both challenges for additional chances at the random draw. This challenge also allows you to use an alternate challenge and chose the Color Dare Challenge #671 that looked like candy corn or colors for a Halloween card.

Chose to do my wrap around shapes using one yellow polka dot, and one orange polka dot patterned paper needed for the Must Use Both Colors in the Color Dare graphic. For my +1 color I chose a gnone, stamped, fussy-cut and colored orange, yellow and purple... my alternate challenge was completed.

Now I needed to determine my 3-2-1 recipe and still stay within the guidelines of the Color Dare and TSOT sketch.

My 3-2-1 Recipe "SomeThing, AnyThing, EveryThing Recipe
  3 - Patterned Papers
  2 - Colors
  1 - Stamped Image

Since my colors and stamped image were completed I chose a black and white background with spider webs to complete my third patterned paper... recipe completed.

To complete my TSOT sketch I embellished with four stamped spiders on the web patterned paper, added the wrapped around shape with 3D thin foam tape and added a black border before attaching to card base. Finished inside with strip of spider web pattern paper and stamped more spiders along r-h border.

DTC Challenge #200 3-2-1 Recipe "Oodles of Doodles" with TSOT #679

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #200 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Oodles of Doodles" and combining it with our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #679) which starts on Sept 16th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for inspiration and to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

Had lots of fun with pencil doodling and once I decided on the hedgehog I replaced pencil using a Sharpie black thin tip pen. The rest of the doodling was free-hand using Sharpi and once comfortable with doodling the card went pretty fast.

Used Copic Sketch brush pens for Twisted Sister's optional twist "Punch of Color", bordered my doodle card with pink cardstock and adhered to card base. Added a corner doodle on the inside of card.

Below are experimental doodles which I'll save for another time.

TSOT #678 with DTC Challenge #199 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise"

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch #678 and combining it with out Sister Challenge, Double Trouble #199 "3-2-1 Recipe Sweet Surprise" and using Twisted Sister's optional twist to shake it up a bit and make a Shaker Card adding some of your favorite shaker bits.

I've had these CTMH Heart Shaker window kits which had never been used. There were no instructions so put together as best I could. I realized the window would not be embedded flush with the surface of my card because I put a backing on the heart with a snowy-like patterned paper.

Didn't have the heart die that went with the kit so traced the heart shaker onto another 4" x 5 1/4" panel of same paper, fussy-cut and adhered to card base with foam tape and inserted the shaker window. My fussy-cut had a couple small mis-cuts so I needed to do a horizontal flip of the sketch. Stamped two images, colored using Copic Sketch brushes, and ahered to the background covering the two mis-cuts.

Finished with a sentiment, and a few snowflake images on the inside of card.

Please hop on over to Try a Sketch On Tuesday, check out the Design Team's inspiration for this sketch and share your creativity... hope to see you there.

DTC Challenge #199 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" with TSOT #678

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #199 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" and Twisted Sister's optional twist to fill in your aperture with at least one image or make a shaker. My choice was to add one image in aperture. Also used our Sister Challenge for inspiration, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #678) which starts on Sep 2nd. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges to show how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

My birthday card used CTMH "Party Gnomes" stamps which had never been used and sitting in my stash since purchase. First selected a party patterned paper, bordered with red cardstock, adhered to card base and then cut out a stitched circle aperture.

Went back and forth on whether it was going to be an aperture card or a shaker; but decided to go with the aperture using several of the party gnomes images.

Gnomes were stamped using Memento black ink, cut with Brother Scan&Cut, and colored with Copic Sketch pens.

On the inside of the card I placed the same patterned paper and adhered one gnome to display on aperture cut,  another in the corner, and placed a third gnome on front of card hiding one of the ones on the inside.

When opening the card I wasn't pleased with the gnome on the left side. As with alcohol-inks they bleed through cardstock... so, cut another gnome, pencil drew the back of the gnome, used Black Multi-liner over penciled, erased pencil marks, colored and carefully cut with circle die to fit in aperture cut. My art wasn't perfect but looked better than the color bleed.

I then cut another piece of the same patterned paper using same circle die, fussy-cut around the stitching and applied to the inside of aperture opening.  Sentiments were stamped on the front and inside of card.

Please hop on over and join us at Double Trouble, have fun with our 3-2-1 Recipe "Sweet Surprise" and play along with our optional twist and dare while earning additional chances to our random draw. DTC Challenge #198 - 3-2-1 Recipe "Mix It Up" with TSOT Sketch Challenge #677 for Inspiration

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #198 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Mix It Up" (3-layers, 2-patterned papers, 1-sentiment) and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #677) which starts on August 19th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for inspiration and how easy it is to participant in both challenges.

Twisted Sister says, "Let's be cool and take this fan-tastic opportunity to cool off, and use my optional twist and create a fan-fold card using TSOT's Sketch Challenge #677 above. Here are two tutorials in two different sizes for creating Fan Fold cards: Patty Dolan's A2 Tutorial and Lisa Curcio's A7 Tutorial

This was such a fun card to put together and I chose to do a Christmas card. First I sized and printed the sketch to an A2 and used that as my pattern for the different panel cuts...that procedure saved me many cuts.

My fan was decorated with foliage and pinecones to add more dimension to the card... undecided on what pinecones and foliage to use several cuts were made using cardstock and patterned paper. After completing the front of the card the balance of cuts were placed on the inside corner against one of the patterns in the fan.  A sentiment was added bordered with evergreen cardstock.

TSOT #676 - 25th Anniversary

This is my Design Team project for Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT) Sketch #676The CTMH paperpack "Love Story - Silver Pack" had some paper I've wanted to use for quite some time. My inspiration and plan was to use the 3-2-1 Recipe at Double Trouble but my final card ended up as a grey/silver monochromatic perfect for a 25th Wedding Annniversary.

I chose a scalloped hexagon cutting out the center with a smaller hexagon to make the frame for the focal point. The focal point was a flower that was right in the middle for the background patterned paper and the hexagon frame was approximately the same size as my focal point. The frame was adhered with 3D thin foam tape and from the same patterned paper the same floral was fussy-cut to use for layering and dimension.

For more dimension the leaves were lifted up over the frame, another sprig was fussy-cut and adhered with 3D thin foam tape over the same sprig on the patterned paper. Wink of Stella was added to the frame, floral, leaves and sprig which gave a little sparkle against the background.

To finish my card a sentiment was die cut using three different dies, layered 3 times for dimension and adhered to the bottom of the background. Again added Wink of Stella to bring in more sparkle against the background.

DTC Challenge #197 3-2-1 Recipe "You're In the Spotlight" with TSOT #676

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #197 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "You're in the Spotlight" consisting of 3 Color of Choice (Purple, Yellow, Lagoon and Green), 2 Layers Not to Include Card Base, and 1 Spotlight Technique.  Click on Spotlight Technique here for easy tutorials for creating this technique. Also included using  Twisted Sister's optional twist to include flower(s) and share my card with our alternate challenge "Triple B (Butterflies, Birds & Blooms)".  My inspiration came from our sister challenge, TSOT, Try a Sketch on Tuesday #676, rotating the sketch to landscape.

In the CTMH paperpack "Love Story" there was a large floral sticker in black and white.  I chose a scalloped circle, cutting out the center with a smaller scalloped circle to make a frame for the spotlight technique. I circled off the space to be colored and then colored the florals and leaves within the circle using Copic Sketch  (alcohol-base) pens.

Adhered the floral on black cardstock, added 3D thin foam tape to adhere to the card base.  The frame was place around the colored floral sticker and adhered to the background.  To finish my card a sentiment was die cut using white cardstock was placed in upper right-hand corner.

DTC #196 3-2-1 Recipe "Keep Us In Stitches" and TSOT #675

This is my Design Team project for Double Trouble #196 using the 3-2-1 Recipe "Keep Us in Stitches" and combining it with our Sister Challenge, Try a Sketch on Tuesday (TSOT Sketch #675) which starts on July 7th. This card will not be entered in TSOT challenge due to the backlinking rule but used as an example of combining the two challenges for interested participants.

This CTMH paperpack was one of my favorite patterned papers for newborn and kid cards... patterns are so whimsical and love the bright colors. This sketch captures all the papers and it was so easy to include the images from a coordinating stamp and die set with the same theme.

Two of the patterned papers (plaid and polka-dot) were cut as in sketch, adhered to blue cardstock, die cut using a stitched frame along the border and adhered to the card base.

The three stitched circles were cut using the cloud pattern and adhered direct to background.  Images were stamped, die cut, colored with Copic sketch pens (alchohol base) and adhered to the circles using thin 3D foam tape.

A sentiment had been stamped with black ink prior to placing the baby on the circle. However, while posting I noticed Twisted Sister's optional twist (a fun pun) was not included on my card. So I looked on the Internet and the only pun I found was Stork Naked which reminded me of Stork Naked with Daffy Duck's Looney Toons. So a quick fix, removed baby from circle, a new circle cut of clouds, a typed sentiment bordered with blue cardstock and all adhered to card base background. Daffy wasn't to happy with the delivery but I think anyone who gets the card above submitted will get a laugh out of it.

In the upper L-H corner of the front of card three stitched hearts were fussy cut and adhered direct to background. Stork Naked Daffy Duck
