Ernst Simon's firm in Stettin, Pomerania (then Prussia, later German Empire, now Sczecin, Poland) started as a branch of Bote & Bock in 1859, but became independent in 1863. It continued to operate in the 20th century, managed by Döring.
The company published mainly songs and piano pieces. Typical composers were Emil Violet, G.L. Heegewaldt, Hugo Rust, Philipp Gretscher and Heinrich Schnell. The locally distiguished composer Karl Adolf Lorenz (1837—1923) who was the city music director from 1866 to 1910, published some of his early works with Simon, though he soon moved to more famous publishers in Berlin.
A similarly named but unrelated publisher Carl Simon operated in Berlin in the same period.
