Ravi started Nua to transform the women's wellness space in India. Lots has been written about how the business has built fantastic products, a loyal consumer base, and an incredible brand that women truly relate to. But this isn't about that. I have worked as a board member with dozens of founders in the last fifteen years at Sequoia Capital and L Catterton. But at home, I have seen the journey a founder goes through after the long days at work and after the board meeting ends, and managing the real struggles and the brickbats along the way. Thank you, Ravi, for showing me the value of patience in building a great business and team, in demonstrating grit under duress, for showing me the importance of empathy as an investor, and for inspiring me to step out to become a founder myself. I busted my knee playing basketball through my school and undergrad days, so sports came to a grinding halt two decades ago. Swimming filled the gap. Last weekend at The Bay Club, Mumbai, it was a proud moment when I was able to achieve my personal best in distance swimming. And thank you to my partner in crime for your belief in me, Suvarna Apte Dalvie!

Anjana Sasidharan shared thisIntegrity, rigour and fairness are values that are close to my heart. A fortnight after my 25th year school reunion at Indian School Al Ghubra in Muscat, I was reflecting on what an indelible mark my school has left on the adult and the leader that I am today. Few high schools in the Middle East in the 1990s had a global exchange programme that gave students global exposure so early in life by sending us for a whole term to schools in the US, Europe and Australia. For a small school with 60-80 kids in each grade, we actually had eight houses to give everyone a fair shot at sports or debate. Every Tuesday, our Principal would personally come to inspect each section to check our uniforms, our finger nails and whether we carried our handkerchiefs- all this to drive home the point of rigour and discipline. It did not matter what your surname was, what language you spoke at home, what gender you were; all that mattered was what you did. We were all fortunate to grow up in an environment that eliminated bias and fostered confidence. I did this rumination after I came back home of course. While we were there, we snorkelled with turtles, sat in a mock class with our vice principal and partied like teenagers! All this, thanks to a fantastic organising team under Dr. Nigel Kuriakose Mathew and Papri Ghosh that managed to round up 70 people in all! Here's to many more!! No scale. Just products and categories we believed in and a team at Flipkart Grocery willing to take a bet on it. That channel scaled to a 100 crore ARR business for us within a year of launch. It's not an exaggeration to say Flipkart shaped the early trajectory of the company. So as Flipkart Minutes turns 2, this is more than a milestone for us; it's a continuation of a partnership that's been there since the beginning. The relationship evolved from grocery into quick commerce, a transition that began with real uncertainty and a sizable business under question. What's made it work is their team. The energy, the belief, the willingness to build together rather than transact. Congratulations to the entire Flipkart Minutes team on completing two years. A lot of consumers were reaching for something sweet during snacking occasions, specifically between 3 PM and 9 PM. Not dessert after a meal. Snacking, On something sweet. That pointed to a category that didn't exist yet. Dessert that's genuinely indulgent, but snackable like chips or puffs. We called it “Snackable dessert”. Two years ago we started working on the problem: Portion-controlled dessert products built on the same principles we hold everywhere at Farmley. No refined sugar. No maida. No hydrogenated oils. No complicated ingredients. Most attempts at this fail in one of two ways. Either it tastes like health food pretending to be dessert, or it quietly smuggles the unhealthy part back in and calls it natural. We went through dozens of iterations. Formulations that tasted right but wouldn't hold shelf life. Ones that held but lost texture. Ones that solved both and cost too much to make sense at scale. It took us almost 12 months just to crack the right chocolate composition that we could use across the category and that held shelf life. Then came the harder part: applying that chocolate in ways that actually worked as snackable formats. There was a point where we almost shut the whole project down. Nothing we made tasted like WOW and in this category, that's the entire point. There's no reason to enter with a product that's merely good. This is where I want to genuinely acknowledge our NPD team led by Marisha Baurai. When the conviction had eroded across the room, they kept at it. That project exists today because they didn't give up on it. Today the first product from that work is live. Date Melts. Real dates. Real almonds. Real chocolate. Nothing pretending to be something it isn't. We've partnered with Blinkit for the exclusive launch in this category, and they're as bullish on this category as we are. We think it can be as big as chocolate over time. Do give it a try and tell me honestly what you think, especially if you don't like it. That's the feedback that makes the next one better. I can attest to that. L Catterton's teams in Asia have participated in HYROX relay races in China and Singapore, and experienced that for ourselves. What began as teambuilding endeavors did not just bring us together and culminate on race days, but also sparked subsequent autonomous participation in double and individual races. Since completing the race, many who did not consider themselves sporty have also gained the confidence and motivation to embark on a journey to become fitter – more runs, utilization of gym memberships, etc. This highly engaged consumer and year-round ecosystem – coupled with the substantial whitespace containing room for further penetration – provides HYROX with a significant runway for growth. Being the creator of the hybrid racing category and having generated extraordinary momentum across the world, it is well positioned for further expansion.
