Atlas - Atlas, the Titan god of astronomy, was given an eternal punishment by Zeus after the giant war between the gods and the Titans; he was to walk to the edge of Earth and hold the weight of the sky on his shoulders, keeping the Earth and the sky/heavens apart for eternity.
Titan, Atlas, was sentenced to hold the sky on his shoulders to prevent it from resuming its primordial embrace with the Earth. Epimetheus, Metis and most of the female Titans were spared.
