Making Music for Hispanic Heritage Month from Tiny Tapping Toes

I made these crocodile castanets for a uni science lesson - we had to teach the science concept of sound and had to make our own musical instruments. Cardboard, green paint, green coloured paper, white paper, googley eyes and bottle caps! I used super glue at home but would use blue tack in a classroom to stick the bottle caps down. I used regular craft glue for the rest. The class loved them!

Here's a quick way for kids to make a paper plate castanet - perfect for celebrations (such as New Year's Eve or birthdays) or for a kitchen band!

Create your own tambourine using a pair of paper plates and some jingle bells. Decorate it as you like!
