Edgar Degas
This is the original 1872 painting (La Femme a La Potiche) by French artist, Edgar Degas (1834-1917), photographed at the d'Orsay Museum in Paris, France. Degas is regarded as one of the founders of Impressionism, although he rejected the term, preferring to be called a realist. His portraits are notable for their psychological complexity and for their portrayal of human isolation.
