Black Court Dress of Empress Elisabeth, Fanny Scheiner (Vienna), ca. 1885. This dress of black silk moire with lace trim and rich jet-bead embroidery has remained entirely in its original state. Thus it provides imressive evidence of the empress's tall, slender figure and her unbelievably narrow, longitudinally oval "Vienesse wasp waist". This was kept as a precious memento by the imperial family and finally came to the Kunsthistorisches Museum in 1962.
