When I wrote Part 1, I knew this was coming. I just thought it would be "here" a little sooner. But as everyone knows, the world doesn't stop when we're away from our desks. Truth be told, I think it all multiplies at a faster rate. Part 1 from Spring Market 2018 was all about the fabric collections that debuted in Portland. So this time, it's about the Moda Designers who were at Market with March collections, and other cool must-have-that things that caught my eye. (I think you already know…

Quilting for Beginners
Kyleigh has a love affair with French General - I can't say she loves the red prints or beige prints more than she loves the blue prints - it's just that she loves all the prints in every colour. This...
So now I'm on the lookout for the pefect projects for my bundles of Etchings and Butterscotch and Rose. Here are a few ideas: This pattern is called Razz-Ma-Tazz and is from Thimble Creek. (By the way, the colored font is not just pretty; it represents links that will take you to the website where I bought the pattern - just in case you want to know more about it.) When I first saw the pattern, I thought it would be great for my stash of 30's repros. Now that I have the pattern, I'm thinking…
So sure, I told you I'm an obsessive quilter but I really haven't done anything to prove it. Exhibit French General: Rouenneries Rail Fence made with a bunch of honey buns. These aren't usually my quilting colors but this line goes with my house so I bought a ton of it. See how perfectly it matches my couch: ) There's a table topper made with some leftovers waiting to be quilted and a plan for some matching napkins. The goal is to get them done in time for Thanksgiving... you'll hold me to…
At the start of this year I had the privilege of quilting this 56"x78" twin bed sampler quilt for one of my most long-time friends, Rachael Chalmers (from Dunedin), who gave me free-range to do whatever I liked! Although I've had my Bernina Q20 longarm since late 2022, I had only re-erected it a couple of months before Christmas (after having moved house in June), so have not completed a lot of projects on it yet. With this quilt I was able to do a mixture of free-motion quilting and…
First finish of 2011! This quilt is a present to myself and was the only thing I didn't get finished in time for Christmas. I love it and can't wait to cozy up on the sofa! Fabrics are Lumiere de Noel and Rouenneries fabrics by French General. Pattern is from Moda Bake Shop www.modabakeshop.com/2009/09/simply-bloom-quilt.html It's hand-quilted using perle cotton in natural

Finish your sewing project, of course. There they are. 49 log cabin blocks. The plan was to make 48 for this quilt. I figure this way I can throw one out if I don't like it. The next step is to decide which pattern to use to put them together. This? Could take a while. The choices are literally endless. AND, since I am finished with this part of the project, I removed my sewing machine from the dining room table. This is also very good news. Edit 4/24/2014 Here's how those blocks finally got…
