Garrett Augustus Morgan, Sr. was born on March 4, 1877 in Kentucky. The inventor, entrepreneur and community leader also created other significant contributions that included a protective respiratory hood (gas mask) and a hair-straightening chemical. Morgan died on August 27, 1963 in Cleveland, OH. #blackhistorymonth
