MVRDV on Instagram: "Combining Dutch heritage with luxury architecture! 🧱💎⁠ ⁠ It is with the request of Warenar to design a flagship store on Amsterdam’s one and only luxury brand street that the Crystal Houses project was born. On PC Hooftstraat, MVRDV wanted to create a store that had a unique design all while respecting the original building's heritage, and found a solution through an unexpected twist on familiar materials!⁠ ⁠ MVRDV created a unique construction of glass bricks that stretch up the façade, dissolving into a traditional terracotta brick façade. Glass bricks, glass window frames, and glass architraves evoke the vernacular of the area to maintain the character of the street.
