The tiara was made in the late 19th century and purchased by the Earl at Catchpole and Williams in London. The tiara is designed as a wreath of five roses and set with rose cut diamonds. In his book The Queen’s Diamonds, Hugh Roberts revealed that the five roses are detachable to be used as brooches and that originally there were five sapphires that could replace the center diamonds of the roses. A demi-parure of Ceylon sapphires and diamonds, designed as a series of seven diamond motifs, with diamond spacers, and topped with Ceylon Sapphires.
