At Last

I have at last got back to some sewing. We've had such a fab summer that I just was out and about making the most of the sunshine. Things have cooled off here now so my thoughts are back to sewing again. 

I'm plodding on with my texas stars and have using the Ardco templates for these blocks. http://www.ardcotemplates.com/.

Next I have been making a new hunters star for one of my beds in my guest room.

Just a border to go on and it's ready for the quilter ( not me) LOL !

I use Deb Tuckers Rapid Star ruler for this. It's fool proof and if you haven't used one of Debs products they make life very easy for you. 

Not sure the colour is showing terribly well but it's duck egg blue.

Finally this arrived yesterday. All I can say is it's fabulous!!! I tried to read it in bed last night but it's to heavy to hold while propped up. More serious reading is required. If you love chintz this is the book for you.

Last but not least i know you all love an update on my little munchkin. This is her last week at Birdland. Oh she loved the penguins, I think if given half the chance she would have been in with them . 

She's Growing like a weed.

Hunters Star Workshop

After this past week it is so nice to see new life hop, skipping and jumping around in the field next to my cottage and really nice to see my gorgeous tulips blooming in my courtyard garden.

As I haven't had time for sewing of late I will posting the pictures of the workshop I taught at Cowslip at the beginning of the month.
It is the Hunters Star and you can see what a terrific job everyone has made of them. I hope when I go back in September I will see some completed quilts.
I can't really remember precisely who's is who's here so if I get it wrong apologies .
I also wanted to show Jo's Organic Cafe at Cowslip. It was mothering Sunday and she had a full house. Well wouldn't you want to come and have lunch here surrounded by beautiful countryside good food and QUILTS!.

Hunters Star and Klosjes

I have been having a little dig around in the UFO box and came out with this Hunters Star top. It was my test piece when I bought Deb Tuckers Rapid fire Hunters star ruler last year at the Vermont Quilt Festival. You may remember back in May I put a Hunters Star quilt in to Quilts UK , It was Deb's ruler I used for that quilt.

I saw Deb and her husband again this year in Paducah and bought A lot of these rulers home with me ( Boy They were heavy in my luggage). I am going to be teaching this method of Hunters Star at Cowslip Workshops next March. It is really very accurate and fast method and love it. I want to make another at some point and already bought the fabric. Now just have to find the time to fit another quilt in the list that is my head whirling around.
This top just needed a border adding , Funny how something just sits their for ages being ignored and then you can actually finish it in very little time.

It's 9 klosjes this week . Total now 97.

Probably won't be doing much in the way of sewing this week as I have my Mum coming to stay. It's her Birthday on Tuesday so its a big celebration with my son and girlfriend at a local restaurant. I haven't ordered candles for the cake as we would need the fire brigade to distinguish them, but I am happy that she has made it in pretty good health to 86.

Well I have had another busy week, On Wednesday I drove down to Cornwall to Cowslip Workshops to do a couple of workshops on Thursday and Friday. As always they were enjoyable days as I myself find the place very inspirational, Jo always has an amazing selection of fabrics to chose from and those who did my workshop went of on a nautical theme- Well we were doing sailing boats.

It also seems that the bluebells have decided to flower and Mery and I had a lovely walk through some woods where the blue was really showing them selves.

The other thing is it has been Quilts UK at Malvern . I went today as I had to collect the quilt I had entered at the end of the show and had agreed to meet fellow blogger Stitcherydo - Shirley for a cup of tea. Funny how we have only meet since blogging and today was our first real life meeting. I am glad she recognised me because she certainly wasn't walking around with a carnation between her teeth so I could spot her. She reckoned I would be able to spot her because of the number of bags she was carrying but by the time I meet she had done so much shopping they bags had to be taken to the car before I could see what she had bought. She was however tempted with some lovely old purple reproduction prints from Fiona at theAmerican Quilt Store. I do hope Fiona manages to get back home to Boston as the Volcanic ash cloud is threatening to disrupt the skies again.
This year the quilts were really good and some amazing winners. Sally Bramalds Whole Cloth Quilt was one of my favourites and oh my goodness my machine quilting would never ever be this good .
So its practice practice practice.

Anyway had a good quilt week I meet up with lots of old friends and one new. Thanks Shirley for the tea chat and taking my photo with my Hunters Star hope we meet up again at another quilt show. Maybe the Festival of Quilts in August. Meanwhile keep blogging and sewing.
