Free LAN messenger

When it comes to organization-wide communications, businesses often use Skype or Slack. Apps such as these offer fast messaging between many users and even allows sending of files. However, if you are on a LAN—local network—it makes sense to use an intern chat person for speedy message exchange. IP Messenger is a pop up-style application that lets you chat inside your local area network. It allows users to stay in contact with different clients in your system. The app is based on TCP/IP (UDP) and does not require a server machine. In addition to serverless sending and receiving messages, this app also offers fast folder and file transfer, sending of image embedded messages, and desktop capture. IP Messenger also offers message encryption, so messages will pass through any third-party servers.

Fast, easy, and safe messaging

IP Messenger works straight out of the box. It is exceptionally easy to use and works without any special requirements. You can have it up and running minutes after its download and installation. More, once installed on everybody's computers, the app can automatically detect all contacts and add them to your lists. With this, you can start exchanging messages with your co-workers right away.

The main interface does not display too many options for easier message sending. To send a message, you only need to choose your contact in the upper part of the window and type your message in the larger bottom area. IP Messenger works in the background. With this, you can still receive messages even if you don't have the app's windows open on your screen. The system tray icon will flash if you receive a message. Clicking the icon will bring the message up. But, if the sender clicks the Seal option to his or her message, you will need to click the Open button to read the actual message.

As with any other instant messaging apps, IP Messenger lets you reply to the message you received. You can also dismiss them when you are done reading. However, your message history is not found on a thread but in a separate window.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
