Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj : Realizing the Infinite-Talks with an Indian Sage | Awareness, Spiritual teachers, Spirituality

Nisargadatta Maharaj was a spiritual teacher known to speak with remarkable clarity, directness and insight on the question of suffering and how to end it. He spoke in absolute terms, and with such intimacy, that reading transcriptions of talks held with seekers seems to immediately raise one’s level of consciousness, expand it, and make real the seemingly improbable. With unfailing certitude he spoke on matters that, by their nature, defy explanation.

Desire for Happiness and Wisdom by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

All you want is to be happy. All your desires, whatever they may be, are longing for happiness. Basically, you wish yourself well...desire by itself is not wrong. It is life itself, the urge to grow in knowledge and experience. It is choices you make that are wrong. To imagine that some little thing-food, sex, power, fame-will make you happy is to decieve oneself. Only something as vast and deep as your real self can make you truly and lastingly happy. - Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

I love the teaching of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. Even more than Ramana Maharshi, Krishnamurti and for that matter Jesus Christ or Buddha, Maharaj is from a depth and dimension of tangible otherness, a teaching from the outer edge of what we can know. Osho called his teaching "nonsense" but that assessment has implicit to it a dread almost of the truth-saying of his nemesis. I love Maharaj because I can never pierce the mystery of his teaching without knowing that he speaks truth. I AM THAT.
