Prunus x yedoensis Prunus × yedoensis, commonly called Yoshino cherry, is a graceful ornamental flowering cherry tree that typically grows 9-12m tall with a spreading, broad-rounded, open crown. Fragrant white (sometimes tinged pink) flowers, black cherries are followed, which are bitter to humans but loved by birds. The whole combination comes alive with one variety of Tulip 🌷in this case Tulipa kaufmanniana ‘Ice Stick’ (good as a it flower too) rising above a sea carpet of blue Chionodoxa forbesii.   A spreading Prunus x yedoensis frames the entire scene in the background, with it’s spreading outstretched branches it seems to be hugging the flowers below. Later on in the season, Paeonies create a second layer in the planting.   As they say - be different and stand out from the crowd and this surely makes for impact and effect beyond the standard meadow style planting.
