Rene Lacoste was a professional tennis player whose goal was to do anything to improve his skills and make tennist practices easier. He invented the polo shirt by shortening the sleves on the origional tennis shirt, making it more comfortable and breathable. He also invented a lighter weight racket and a machine that fires tennist balls for practice.
