Roman coin craft in the Marketplace. Terracotta colored Crayola clay was rolled out and shaped by the little Romans. Stamps were available for them to use to stamp values on each coin. three vases sitting on top of a table in front of a mirror with tape taped around them

Michelle Barrera let me use lots great pictures of how her church, Teaching Word Faith Center (Fort Worth, TX) decorated for Athens VBS several years back. Here is how they made large pots. The greenery really looks stunning on these. More Greco-Roman Decor Here More VBS Rome Resources and Ideas Shared on…

Side Note: Sadly, we are not going to finish Ancient Rome before our school year is over, so we will just postpone our Ancient Rome studies until we return back to school right after July 4th. Instead of just not doing history the last 2 weeks of school, I decided for us to go ahead and start Ancient Rome…

As we have studied ancient civilizations of the Fertile Crescent, Egypt, Europe and Asia this school year we have done various projects recommended by our Story of the World Activity guide. Most of the projects aren't quite as big or time consuming as the Chicken Mummy, but they have been great for providing a bit of insight into the ancient world. Many projects have involved recipes, stories, games, clothing, writing and art of ancient civilizations. ~ This spring we have spent a good deal…

Ancient Romans created beautiful mosaic artworks. According to the BBC, the mosaics used in Rome were home decorations and ranged from store-bought common designs to custom made designs. Parents and children can make their own mosaic artworks with some colored paper and glue for a fun family craft.

an artistic vase sitting on top of a table

At our art classes we use different materials. Some of our three dimensional projects have been made out of Papier-mâché. Papier-mâché is an enormously versatile and exciting craft medium. It allows creating three dimensional objects out of pieces of paper stuck together with glue or starch. It also can be reinforced with fabric. When the object is dry it becomes solid. Much of its appeal is based on the simplicity of the techniques used and the ready availability of the materials needed –…
