Knitted from rare-breed Shetland wool. Hand sorted and un-dyed producing subtle shades from cream to dark brown. Soft and light giving natural warmth.

Shetland Sheep are considering a recovering breed. The Shetland breed has prospered in recent years to the extent that it is no longer considered endangered by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust in Britain. Despite this success, there are concerns about the loss of genetic diversity within the breed. For example, white sheep now predominate on the British mainland and several of the color varieties have become rare.

Waterfowl abound in Skåne, the southernmost county in Sweden, but one can also stumble on sheep lumbering along the coastline. These Gotland sheep I found near Vellinge are a unique breed, known for their dense, long wool, suitable to the harsh Skåne climate.
