Here is sort of a primary concept for an open tatami “room”. The area could be totally open like this, enclosed by walls, or enclosed by japanese shoji screens that slide open and closed. Our inital concept was open like this, but depending on layout might need to be adjusted, possibly closed in. This area is multi use, could be for dining, childs play area, or even as a place for guests to sleep.
