My musings on various stuff: Civilized Edition

Image
There's a lot going on in the fandom right now. Awesome fan-made materials, official releases and news of upcoming projects - there's something for everyone, so let's go and take a look, shall we? 1. The Northmen Rules v2.0 by Jackdays from Kalevala Hammer Let the quality content flow! Always awesome Jackdays from the legendary Kalevala Hammer , returns once again with a content of topmost quality. His Northmen sourcebooks for WFRP are some of the best fan-made materials out there, and for a good reason. Being fascinating, extensive reads on the topic of the fearsome northern tribes of the Warhammer Fantasy world, they're a true boon to Gamemasters and players alike. A few weeks ago Jack has released a new version of this great add-on for WFRP 1, 2 and 3, and I can't stress enough how good they are. You can check them out yourselves, by visiting his website and downloading them from his rich repository of goodies. They're worth your time, trust me on...

Xathrodox86's initial impressions on the Dawn of War 3 announcement

Image
Straight to the point. Two days ago Relic has shown the whole world the new trailer for Dawn of War 3, along with some gameplay pics. Is it everything that we've hoped for? I like Dawn of War games a lot. Both the first one, more in the spirit of the classic Starcraft series (which never stuck with me for some reason), and its sequel, which took a lot from Company of Heroes, and showed us that smaller scale battles in the universe of 40K can be just as exciting. I've never finished the first DoW titles, an error that I plan to rectify by installing the whole collection on my Steam account and playing it, one after the other. With DoW 2 I've managed to play the first two titles from start to finish, and had a real blast with them, especially with the corruption system in Chaos Rising (Avitus got what he deserved, the racist, Guardsmen hating prick that he was). As for the Retribution, it's installed and ready for my (medicore) RTS skills. Why have I installed all...

The fight for Ebenhard VII continues. Kill Team battle report incoming!

Took me some time. As always. Anyway here's the continuation of the Ebenhard VII campaign. The bugs are still in the game, but both the Space Marines and the Inquisition have a few aces in their sleeves. This KT game was played between 3 players. The Imperials had a 250 pts armies, while Nid player had a total of 500, as well as a bigger HQ slot than his opponents. 1. Our Armies: A. Baby's first Kill Team, or why it pays not to be assaulted

Image
Yesterday I had a killer game of Kill Team with two of my friends, and let me tell you: it was awesome! For those of you who don't know, Kill Team is a small skirmish game, based on the rules of Warhammer 40K, but with a couple of twists, First of all most units are treated individually, even those who are in squads. This means that finally we have a game, where it is possible to target different opponents with different guys. The games are obviously rather smallish. Usually the army will be worth 250 points and consist of no more than 20 models. There are almost no vehicles and the whole thing is like a 40K version of Mordheim which is really cool. Oh and just FYI I am talking about the Heralds of Ruin version of Kill Team, not the GW one, which I find to be rather inbalanced. I'll post the adress to the HoR website at the end of this article. Be sure to visit and check out their stuff. It's really great and shows how much worth is a true dedication to one's hob...
