Nicely done, very fun! The level before the poison was introduced confused me and took me longer than I expected. But the last level felt fittingly challenging and used every spare life I had, great job! One thing though, sometimes I was able to double jump, might need to work on jump detection.

Thanks! I am glad you made it to the end.

Yes, the secret double jump was originally an accident, but we liked it so much we decided to leave it in. We even added small visual indicator to help time it (though it is still hard to pull off).

There was one bug I found where you were able to still move after you lost the level but other than that is was really fun to play!

this was really fun! I liked how at the end of each level the cat peeks out of the box!

Super clever and really catchy music.

Something about using a stack of my cats previous lives to reach a ledge feels both horrible so adorable at the same time.

And the little box animation at the end of each level is so cute.

Nice game with a cool concept, usingthe 9 lives of a cat! Nice mechanics too, with the river sliding you down!

Submitted(+1)

Haha, not the first game to use this concept, but the cat framing is genius! I also really like that you went for something more execution-heavy than puzzle-y, which is a nice change of pace.

Nice concept, the mechanics are clever to use the dead cat as platform. Nice job on the game!

Great Stuff! As someone who made a similar kind of puzzle platformer, loved the smooth mechanics of the game a ton

I love the art and I thought the description of how the game came to be is really sweet! I had a lot of fun playing this one so overall amazing job!

Nice game! Controls feel good. Well done :)

Super fun! From the sound to the environment, the game was very intriguing. I liked the lifespan of the cat bodies on the green lakes and the move speed of the cat bodies on the water. Everything felt challenging but fair. I would say maybe add collectibles in the level (like the black fish bones on the cover art) to add another layer (this might have already been the case in later levels, I got stuck on the giant green lake). Amazing job, guys!

I really enjoyed playing this game. It starts off with a playful tone — the idea of sacrificing one of the cat’s nine lives to progress is both clever and fun.

Then it quickly becomes addictive and genuinely fun to keep going through the later levels.

I couldn’t manage to beat the level with the two consecutive lakes though — that one was pretty tough!

Great game overall!

Such a nice way to use the 9 cat lives!

seem quite abit of such  game but this one really sells with the level design! i think one issue is the blue water seems to be telling me its safe in the beginning haha

Developer

So, the blue water made you curious enough to touch it?

Really enjoyed this concept and it was really well executed!

It also felt very forgiving, which I appreciated as I'm terrible at platformers and the current trend seems to be make them impossible XD

Great entry, good work :)

I've seen a lot of games in this Jam with the 'using your past self' theme but this was one of my favorites - very will executed and easy controls. I had fun with this!

Although I know it's related to death, the art and sound effects make it really cute haha XD. The later levels are quite challenging, but that actually makes me enjoy playing it even more and had a lot of fun. Great game!
