A game where you decide how to make it harder is super creative and the classic YouTube references were a hit ofc. Simple and fun!

That N64 game but 2D and actually super fun to play.

Really liked that you get downgrades at the end of each round, so you have to decide which downgrade would be the least intrusive during gameplay, resulting in chaotic yet enjoyable gameplay near the end. The visuals have a charming and goofy art style which matches the comedic tone of the game. Same goes with the music. The sound effects give the action additional depth, which combined with the particle effects, create a very responsive user experience. Finally, the references to the source materials are great. If I had to nit-pick, the background could have more details such as clouds. Overall, very well done! 👍

I was gonna add more detail to the background (specifically windows to the foreground building) but I forgot 😭

Thanks for playing!

Fun use of loops and a nice layering of difficulty as it goes on, good job getting this all done !!

Fun game! This is also one of the rare games which has a satisfying begin and end. Impressive for 4 days!

this is actually getting quite hard after a few rounds

Your Godot logo that you drew..... so funny. I loved that. Fun and absolutely hilarious game. Very creative and great humour. Also, your "Review" section on the game page... so funny. Only 52 deaths...lol. Nice work. Good use of theme and fun to play.

I couldn't wait to see what each new thing did. Well done!

Peak art and the original non-derivative character Furious Nerd is great.

I went into this game completely blind, the twist at the end of the first round was really surprising and fun and I really enjoyed it. Some way to keep track of progress would be nice. Perhaps a score multiplier for each modification added?

The targeted missiles were a good mechanic but sometimes I'd get multiple at once, perhaps having a cooldown between missiles would make it a bit more fair (having time for a missile to be reloaded kind of makes sense).

It's a shame the game jam was not a bit longer as I see a lot of opportunity for this game.

Surprisingly good game! Not only very fun but also hilarous interactions

I like your quirky art style, but yeah, same thing as the guy below me, the jokes didn't really land lol. Game itself is pretty polished, well done 👍

Developer (1 edit)

Agreed. In retrospect I probably should have toned down the swearing (even though it was censored) as that’s one of the main reasons why I didn’t find AVGN (the guy I parodied for the Furious Nerd) funny in the first place. Would’ve made the AVGN parody less accurate but also would’ve made the game funnier (especially for people not familiar with AVGN).

Thanks for playing :)

interesting game, i like the mods, but I must be missing out on the humor :p pretty nice art style too!

Developer (2 edits)

Yeah I agree with you about the humor. Maybe I was too old by the time I watched an episode of AVGN (the guy I parodied for the Furious Nerd) but besides a couple chuckles I didn't really find AVGN funny.

I tried to mitigate this by throwing in other jokes that didn't involve his swearing but most of those jokes were towards the end of the game so yeah not a really great first impression :/

Glad you enjoyed other aspects of the game, though! Thanks for playing!

Ah, i see. No problem, hope you had fun making it!

Genuinely fun, and I laughed at the angry nerd as your framing device for the increasing difficulty. Top tier sadism, forcing the player to pick how to make the game harder for themselves. The graphics felt like something Strongbad would design - nostalgic and charming and dripping with deliberate irony. Well done!

Unironically quite cool!

Love the paint look!
Nerd references and spotting Doofenshmirtz's tower had me grinning

I almost would've wanted it to fully reset when you die (although I may regret saying that...), but it was still quite fun!

Developer

Resetting everything when you die would be annoying (especially if you die in the late game) and you can hold R to reset anyway.

Fun, with good replayability

This game is a wild ride! Loved flying through the loops and tweaking the gameplay loop with mods, really clever concept. The goofy art style and humor made it super enjoyable. Had some hilarious moments messing up early picks like Cruise Control and Missiles! Great job, definitely a fun and memorable entry.

The real loops were the friends we saved along the way and that's beautiful. Loved the story and art style
