I took inspiration of using an oboe as part of the melodies, like how "Beware the Forest Mushrooms" from Super Mario RPG uses them and I used some jungle drums to make it sound more like a forest.

I really like your inspiration track from Super Mario RPG - it has a sound that seems different from many other video game (especially Mario) songs. Your collection of instruments and interesting chord progression fits well with this style. The beat gets really funky and has me ready for a fun boss battle when the percussion kicks in. My favorite part is when the saxophone gets highlighted with the solo, such as at 0:57. Also the tom fills are very nice at breaking up the sections. Nice work and thank you for sharing!
I like how it plays. Like the style, and i like how you implemented the theme.
Great choice of instrument. And I love the drum break you use. It launches the next section really well.
I agree with Jofes, the variations are a little timid, but you can hear small differences. For example, at 1:00, you loop with the saxophone and add rhythmic elements (crash or ride). It's cool, but it's barely noticeable and doesn't kick things up as much as if you had doubled the saxophone in the third or added a counterpoint with another instrument.
In short, your music is indeed a little long for the variations you offer, but rest assured, there's some really good stuff in there (melody, groove, and break).
The drum interludes reminded ma a lot of Mario RPG but I think the rest of the song began to get somewhat repetitive. A lot of repeated melodies when there's a lot of room to have unique ones.
Yeah, I get that. Last second, I thought it would make sense to loop the song once because I thought it was too short. I also probably shouldn't of attempted my first music jam entry one day before it was ending lol. But, I appreciate the constructive criticism!
