Now Available: Shooter York - Colby Jackson (Mel Odom)

Young mountain man Shooter York had been trapping with his cousin George Monk and returned to find his beloved Tennessee home in turmoil as the US Army enforced the Indian Removal Act in 1833.

Shooter hadn't agreed with the proposed action, but it hit even closer to home than he realized when a friend of his got caught up in the middle of it. Moon Bear was accused of killing an Army transport crew and of taking rifles.

After helping the Army find Moon Bear, Shooter learned that his friend was looking for his son, who was following Calling Owl, a renegade leader conducting raids on helpless settlers. Shooter and George had no choice but to free Moon Bear and take up the hunt. But with the US Army on their heels and riding into the teeth of dangerous renegades, Tennessee seemed more crowded than ever.

(As you can tell from the cover, this book is connected to the Rancho Diablo series, but since it's a prequel, you don't have to have read any of the others before this one.)

Rancho Diablo: The Hold Up Now Free for Kindle

Today and tomorrow you can grab a free copy of THE HOLD UP, the Rancho Diablo novel by Mel Odom.

When Randy Post, a young cowboy riding for the Rancho Diablo brand, gets accused of murdering a saloon girl, Sam Blaylock saddles up to get to the bottom of the matter before they fit him for a hangman's noose. Sam doesn't know that the murder has set off a chain of events that will end up with him swapping lead with a murderous gang of robbers eyeing one of the banks in Shooter's Cross.

In the past, Marshal Everett Tolliver and Sam Blaylock haven't seen exactly eye-to-eye on things involving the ranch hands. Tolliver intends to hold the peace in town no matter what the cost. But he's going to need help if he's going to find out who murdered Jessie Holden in cold blood.

Even after they've set their differences aside for the time being, Sam and Tolliver still have to put their lives at risk to hold the line in Shooter's Cross in a gundown on Main Street that will become a legend.

Rancho Diablo: Hangrope Law is Now Available

I'm very pleased to announce that the second Rancho Diablo book, HANGROPE LAW, is now available on Amazon for the Kindle.  I hope that those of you who read and enjoyed the first Rancho Diablo book, SHOOTER'S CROSS, will give this one a try as well.  This would be something great to buy with that Amazon gift certificate you're going to get as a Christmas present next week, or might I suggest that if you're giving a Kindle as a present to someone who's a Western reader, you could download both Rancho Diablo books on it so they'll have something to read right away.  Just a thought.

Rancho Diablo #1 is Now Available!

RANCHO DIABLO #1: SHOOTER'S CROSS is now available on Amazon.  I'm hardly an unbiased observer since I had a hand in the series' creation, but I think Mel Odom did a spectacular job on this book, especially considering that this is his first Western novel.  If you like action-packed Westerns with great characters, this one is highly recommended.
