About Me
Hi, I'm Jack, a Systems Designer and Game Developer who recently graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Game Development from Glasgow Caledonian University. I also hold an NC in Video Game Development and an HND in Digital Design and Development, and have built a strong technical foundation in Unity, C#, and GML across several years of academic and personal projects.
I enjoy refining complex mechanics through iteration to make gameplay feel both intuitive and meaningful. My dissertation explored how multimodal feedback, covering visual, auditory, and haptic effects, shapes player perception of weapon realism and satisfaction. Outside of development, I'm usually at the gym, walking Munros, or playing the latest game releases!
Current Project
Kyomen
In Development
After placing 2nd at the largest Global Game Jam site in Scotland, I moved into a multidisciplinary role to continue developing Kyomen. Due to our small team size, I bridged the gap between technical implementation and visual design, taking ownership of the HUD and UI art while also programming core systems. My work involved developing the Talent Tree, item and menu frameworks, and the persistence logic required to maintain data between environments. I also built the data logging systems to store player variables and settings, ensuring the interface and backend function as a single cohesive unit.
