Track 1: Katherine Doyle
Manhattan, 1983. The towers cast long shadows as the city slips into dusk. Katherine Doyle, 35, private detective, confident, beautiful, and fiercely independent, closes the last file of the day. She reaches for her BMW convertible keys, her lipstick, her gym bag, the night is supposed to be hers.
Then the phone rings.
Him
Ms. Doyle… it’s Mark. They’ve found me. I’m at a payphone... I don’t have long.
Her
Mark, slow down. Where are you? Who’s after you?
Him
Not here. Not on the line. Listen carefully: Pier 17. South Street Seaport. Ten o’clock tonight.
Track 2: Pier 17
New York Harbor, midnight. The docks are silent except for the groan of distant ships and the restless tide of the East River. Katherine Doyle pulls up near Pier 17, South Street Seaport.
She steps out of her BMW. The night is thick, the air damp with fog. Her heels echo against the pavement. And then she sees him ,Mark, sprawled lifeless on the ground beside her car.
Before the shock can register, a pair of headlights explode through the darkness. Tires screech. An engine roars straight toward her.
Katherine gasps, throws herself back into her convertible just in time. The pursuing car swerves, spins, then turns to come back around.
She slams the key, the engine ignites, and the BMW tears away from the pier. Neon lights blur as she speeds into the night, hunted, headlights burning in her rearview mirror.
The chase has begun.
