about

Along with an early version of 'Kraken's Lair', tracks 1, 4 and 5 were originally intended for an album called 'Maelstrom' which was completed late in 2004 in the wake of my ambient album 'Sloth'. However, upon completion I had a rethink and shelved the project as I had started to go in a different direction which I felt more drawn to, producing the album 'Quicksilver' which appeared in the summer of 2005 shortly before an extended stay in Australia, where I produced track 3. Track 2 (originally titled 'Champagne') came into being during a visit back home in late 2006.

Rediscovering the forgotten 2004 material via a data DVD found in the loft in February 2021, I realised it had merit and that on an aesthetic level it would fit seamlessly with the 2006 material. To this end, I made a few minor edits and compiled the resulting pieces into 'Eruptions'.

A section of track 4 was condensed and developed into 'Zen Garden' on the album 'Imaginary Soundtracks'. Track 5 was adapted into 'Searching Through Current' on the album 'Active'.
