First things I do is disable hyphenation and switch to right justified.

I just found the opendyslexic font. I am not dyslexic, but I am getting older and that font is so easy to read. It’s crazy.

Staff Are Revolting5·3 hours agoThe issue that I have with this is that, although I agree with the spell/grammar check with context use, they are using cloud models to do this. They are essentially giving a third-party a legal right to use an author’s work to feed their model. Work like this is simple enough for a self-hosted offline LLM to do.

Jo Miran@lemmy.mlto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC shipments fell by a massive 20% year-over-year last quarter, and yes it's due to the memory crisisEnglish3·4 hours agoOff topic as it is not gaming related:
I figured this was coming so I bought four System76 Meerkats with AMD processors, 4TB nvmes and 96GB of RAM. Each actively runs six to seven Win 11 VMs on ProxmoxVE, with many more on standby (each VM takes 128gb of disk space). Each VM runs large chunks of the client workloads that caused us to have to constantly upgrade our laptops. Now, by offloading the majority of the workload to these self-hosted virtual desktops (VDIs), we can extended the life of our “daily drivers” by years. My main PC is a 2019 Thinkpad andnat this rate, I might easily get another five years out of it (barring hardware failure). When we do need to replace, we no longer have to buy laptops with top tier specs.
I get it. I became a reader later in life. I now realize that what held me back from reading the most was holding the book. I know it sounds dumb but hard covers are too heavy, and keeping a paperback open at the page was annoying. I read magazines, newspapers and comics without issue, but hard covers and paperbacks I could not handle. Now, with ebooks and a slim e-reader, I read about two to three books a week when I have spare time.
Also, I don’t have the bookshelf space for the amount of books I consume.

No warning. No investigation. No communication.
As I said, it’s your right. It’s just not the way I choose to mod.
Seriously, I’m cool with it. I just saw you in this thread and wanted to call to your attention that you might be a little quick on the draw with the bans. I wasn’t looking for anything beyond that.

You might want to look into Puerto Rican Pique.
Jo Miran@lemmy.mlto Ye Power Trippin' Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Mod is a foreign propagandist pretending to be American.1·22 hours agoAs I said, it’s 100% your right as a mod, but it seemed like you went straight for the ban. No communication. Didn’t ask what I meant. Just straight for the ban.
I commented what I did because I went through the user’s history and found enough evidence to indicate to me that they were being disingenuous. I criticize dems all the time, but I am also suspicious of accounts that tend to discourage people from voting altogether. Those folk, I block and offer no apology for it.
I’m in this picture, and I like it.
EDIT: Although, I am told that I’m “omni”(?). I’m not good with labels.

Jo Miran@lemmy.mlto movies@piefed.social•Tom Cruise’s ‘Digger’ Now Stands to Lose $245 Million After Dropping 60% in Second WeekendEnglish6·22 hours agoThe marketing existed, but the trailers didn’t do much past showcase Tom Cruise being zany, and the plot did not seem very appealing. My guess is that, just like The Bride, they made an art house movie witha very niche audience, for way too much money. The budget for both movies should have been miniscule.
Jo Miran@lemmy.mlto Ye Power Trippin' Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Mod is a foreign propagandist pretending to be American.2·22 hours agoYou banned me from latestagecapitalism for being a “liberal troll”, which is fucking hilarious if you’d spent any time whatsoever looking at my comment history.
Still, I’m not mad as that’s your right as a mod, but it does make me question how itchy your ban hammer trigger finger might be.
I borrow many ebooks from the library.
