On May 20, 1910, an event occurred that had never occurred before or since. Gathered for the funeral of the British King Edward VII, nine different European monarchs assembled inside Windsor Castle for a photo. Edward VII, king of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British dominions and emperor of India from 1901. An immensely popular and affable sovereign and a leader of society, he was the second child and eldest son of Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
