When I started out out, I carved a lot of bad spoons. It took a long time to figure out certain tips and tricks to making spoons that work well. This is tip is one I really wish I’d been told about earlier.

The spurtle is the preferred tool for stirring porridge. It is said that the round design prevents lumping. It is also excellent for stirring cream soups. A simple and attractive tool for the kitchen. These are about 10" long by 3/4" in diameter. Each is handmade from Western Maple and feature a beaded handle and smooth flowing design.
