The Queen! Anthurium warocqueanum
Anthurium warocqueanum just put out a new leaf! This new leaf is 28" long and almost 9" wide!! Just when I think this aroid can't get any larger it surprises me! This tropical rainforest beauty is found growing in the trees of Columbia, South America. It's leaves can reach up to 6 feet long and vary in both color as well as the shape, with some featuring darker leaves and minimal veining while others are light green with many veins! Like other epiphytic tropical plants, the warocqueanum prefers to grow in the natural debris collected in the branches of a tree, not in the soil on the ground. I grow mine in a large orchid basket filled with a chunky soil-less mix of coco coir, fir bark, charcoal, rice hulls, and sphagnum moss. This allows the roots to escape the pot and climb onto near
