In winter, the beautiful scenery of golden mount Kailash at sunrise or sunset is more common. The Gangdisê Mountains run across between the Kunlun Mountains in the north and the Himalayas in the south like a giant dragon lying on the wide plateau of Ali (Ngari) in western Tibet. His head, lofty like a great pyramid, stands on the plateau of Ali, it is the second main peak, Gang Rinpoche (Kailash), at an altitude of 6,656 meters.
