For some reason I once ended up browsing a support forum for adult survivors of shitty homeschooling, and there was one thread made by a woman who was on the verge about whether she wants to homeschool her kids or if she should send them to public school, and could not make up her mind no matter how hard she thought of it. Someone on the forum suggested to her that how about she'd try interviewing three happy, thriving, mentally and socially well-adjusted adults who were homeschooled as children, and then ask herself if she can provide that same experience to her children.
The mom-to-be then asked the suggester where to find some.
And the suggester answered roughly "the fuck if I know, I've never met one in my life either."
