'To travel is to live.'

My digital art journal page that I layered with the collage technique in Photoshop. The girl is my decorated skrap image, the Spanish posters and other images I added on the background from my archive.

I've travelled several times in Spain; the first trip was as early as in the late 1960s. In Finland the weather wasn't in summer warm and sunny always, so people travelled often to Southern Europe for enjoy the sun.

'Matkustaminen on elää.'

Digitekniikalla fotosopissa kollaasitekniikalla tekemäni art journal-työ, jonka kuvamateriaali on arkistostani. Tyttö on vanha koristelemani lehtileike; lisäsin espanjalaisia julisteita ja muita kuvia valitsemalleni taustalle.

Matkustelin paljon Espanjassa jo 1960-luvun lopulta asti. Meillähän aurinko ja lämpö ei ole taattua kesäisin, joten matkailu Etelä-Eurooppaan oli suosittua jo tuolloin. Linkitän työni teemaan 'Vanhat hyvät kesät'.

Summertime again/Kesä jälleen

I layered it in Photoshop with collage technigue using the imagematerial that I chose from my archive. I made som digitalpainting and finished the page typing the texts.

Good Old Summertime/Entisajan hyvät kesät

My words "Summertime is the sweetest time to fall in love" are not favorable to everyone: on a closer look the situation is bad for the man there up - because his target seems to be a mermaid 😉

I found my image material for this summery page from my archive, and I designed and layered the work in Photoshop program.

Happening in the Swimming Pool/Uima-altaalla tapahtuu

 
My digital interpretation for the 'Swimming pool' theme at Digital Whisper.

You see beneath the old magazine page from July 1960. I've saved it long time ago, and now used it for my digital page above.

 My dachshunds Mira and Kalle loved to swim, and never happend this kind with them ☺️ The other image material is from my archive. I created and made the layering in my Photoshop.

'Uima-allas'-teemaan tein digitekniikalla fotosopissani 'Hyppää vain!'- digikollaasin, johon kuvat löytyivät arkistostani. Näet päätyön alla vanhan  heinäkuulta 1960 olevan lehden sivun, josta sain idean ja kuvamateriaalia työhöni. Omat mäyrikseni Mira ja Kalle uivat mielellään - hyppivät vähän liikaakin veneestä veteen - eikä koskaan sattunut tällaista arkailua☺️ 

Lehtileikkeen olen joskus napannut talteen, ja nyt sille tuli käyttöä.

Fabric has life/Kankaalla on elämä

I created this digital ajj-page with the collage technique in Photosop using the image material, that I chose from my archive. I made the colorful word FABRIC in Fotoshop, addded among others some stitchings figures, and typed: 

'Sewing is my therapy'.

There the little girl has difficulties to decide what kind of fabrics to choos for her new dress, that her mother promised to sew her. She is imagining also, what 

colours and figures may fit on her favorite toys, as well...

Memories of Paris/Pariisin muistoja

 

For the "What reminds you of Paris"-theme at Digital Whisper.

Mine are the couple of the postcards that I bought in memory of Paris many years ago. The card on the left up is designed by Rodolphe Rousseau, and presents La place Furstenberg, which is a small, and romantic square, know as a quiet, picturesque place famous for its central lamppost with the paulownia trees.

The card right down is designed by Serge De Filippi presenting Vert-Galant public garden. It has been built in honour of King Henri IV, nicknamed the 'Vert-Galant' because his liking for women😊

I created the background for the cards in Photoshop. It's said Paris has the special light with the pink color - I tried to give it onto my digital art. The other images are chosen from my archive.

March wonders/Maaliskuun ihmeitä

'Springtime is the land awakening;

The March winds are the morning yawn.'

My digitally drawn and painted art journal work. I've earlier drawn the girl's head with digital drawing- and painting brushes of Photoshop with a mouse on the computer screen. She is the very first digital drawings, made 2015 in my Photoshop, and I named her Sarah. I've made Sarah's dress, butterfly and the bird on her head cutting them from the cardboards. 

Now I compounded the new background with digital collage technique with many image and overlay materials that I chose from my archive. I finished the page typing the quote and adding the frame.

Maaliskuun tuulet aamun haukotusta.' 

Digitaalisesti tekemäni art journal-sivu, jossa on aiemmin Fotosopin kynillä ja siveltimillä tietokoneen kuvaruudulla hiirellä piirtämäni tytön pää. Olen antanut hänelle nimen Sarah, ja hän on ensimmäisiä digitaalisesti piirtämiä/maalaamiani kuvia vuodelta 2015. Tein hänelle silloin mekon sekä perhosen ja linnun leikkaamalla ne kuviollisista pahveista. Nyt taustan koostin runsain arkistosta valitsemin materiaalein, ja viimeistelin työn kirjoittamalla mietteen ja lisäämällä kehyksen.

Ms.Spring/Neiti Kevät

 

My hybrid art journal page for the theme 'Spring forward' hosted by Chris at Art Journal Journey Challenge.

The hand made part of the work is the Ms. Spring's head, that I've painted and embellished by hand.

I designed and layered the page in Photoshop with the images that I chose from my archive, typed the words that are from the lyrics of the Finnish rock band 'Sir Elwoods', and added  the word 'Spring', that I made with the photoshop tools from a background paper of another work. There is peaking another Ms.Spring 😊

'Drink cup of sunlight every morning to brighten yourself.'

My digitally designed and layered scrap page. I found the happy lady's black/white picture of the 50's from my archive and altered her colorful in my photoshop program; made her also a colorful background with digital painting brushes and with the scrap image material that was found from my files. 

I made the sunrise to the sky from two separate modest sky-pictutes. 

So you can express yourself also without first class images using your own work and imagination.

'Juo kuppi auringon valoa joka aamu virkistykseksesi.'

Tämän digityön tein "skräppi"-materiaalista, jota löytyi kansioistani. Iloinen 50-luvun nainen oli mustavalkoinen, mutta muutin kuvan värilliseksi fotosopissani. Taustaa maalailin siellä digi-siveltimillä, ja auringon nousun taivaalle tein kahdesta erillisestä vaatimattomasta taivas-kuvasta yhdistämällä ja maalaamalla - linnut on digikuva.

Näinkin voit ilmaista itseäsi käyttämättä ensiluokkaisia valokuvia tai materiaaleja.

Raggedy Ann's house/Räsynykke Ann'in talo

 'Raggedy Ann's house'

For the Digital Whisper Blog Challenge theme 'Raggedy Ann',

 that is a ragdoll with red garn for hair and a triangle nose. It's created by an American writer Johnny Cruelle in 1920's and appeared in a series books. He wrote and illustrated for young children.

I am honored to be her interiör designer😊. Ann was found from the web, and other images chosen from my files; the layout made in my photoshop program.

Suosituksi USA:ssa tulleen räsynuken, jolla on punainen langoista tehty tuka ja kolmio nenä, on amerikkalaisen lastenkirjailija Johnny Cruelle'n 1920-luvulla luoma suosituksi noussut nukkehahmo. Hän kirjoitti ja kuvitti lastenkirjoja.

Minulla on kunnia toimia Raggedy Annen sisustussuunnittelijana ja sisustaa hänelle talonsa olohuone 😊
