Al Ula العلا is the base to access the ancient Nabatean city of Madain Saleh. Al-Ula is now a modern town, with the most complete "old town" in Saudi Arabia. The area has been occupied for over 2000 years and used to be a stopping point on the old insence road. In the old town, more than 500 houses are still there.
