Earth overshoot day

For the first time in years, Earth Overshoot Day has been pushed to a later date after the pandemic slowed runaway overconsumption and delayed the date by about a month. Nevertheless, as of today, we are still in debt with the planet for the rest of the year😡. Scientists in fact estimate that humanity is using 60% more than can be renewed. That is the equivalent of 1.6 planets🌎.

Earth Overshoot Day, August 2, previously known as Ecological Debt Day, is the date on which humanity’s resource consumption for the year exceeds Earth’s capacity to regenerate those resources that year. Not really anything to celebrate, is it?

Earth Overshoot Day Is This Week
