At the beginning of the eighteenth century, northwestern North Carolina was a frontier, separated from the eastern part of the colony by a number of rivers.

Pilot Mountain State Park became North Carolina's 14th state park in 1968. There are many hiking trails for all skill levels to choose from or if you just want to catch some amazing views from the parking area you can do that as well! We also saw many rock climbers and stopped each time to marvel not only at their courage but also the skills necessary to excel and enjoy this activity. #pilotmountain #pilotmountainstatepark
