Tzipporah -- Sipor Ceramics on Instagram: "There are a bunch of ways to create lidded jars on and off the wheel, and so many uses for them! Honey jar, spices, coffee grounds, tea bags, sugar...how do you use a jar in your home? This is how I like to create my gallery on a wheel thrown jar base. Until I got the perfect @diamondcoretools trimming tool, that just so happened to have this squared off end, I used a generic wood tool with the rounded back and it did the job wonderfully! This fun guy is thrown using @kentuckymudworks Brown Bear Clay (my fav fav), on my gorgeous @hartleyandnoble batt system which sits beautifully over my @speedball_ceramics wheel 😍 and of course, the gallery is created with the versatile T102 trimming tool from @diamondcoretools Let me know if you have any que Darting Ceramics, Throwing Wheel Pottery, Pottery On The Wheel, Pottery On Wheel, Ceramic Wheel Thrown Ideas, How To Throw A Lidded Jar, Pottery Ideas Wheel Thrown, How To Throw A Mug On The Wheel, Wheel Throwing Ideas

Adele Macer Ceramics on Instagram: "Watch me make possibly the cutest sugar jar ever! While I haven’t shown the entire process (the throwing part is also pretty cool), it’s the trimming part which really sets it apart from most other items.
This jar was made in one piece then sliced in half to make a base and a lid. Getting the lid to fit the base is a process of back and forth and can take a little while to get right, but like anything, make a bunch in a row and you’ll get the hang of it quickly!
Better yet, come and learn how to make a lidded vessel with me! There are a bunch of ways to make a jar with a lid, this is but just one. It’s a great way to refine your trimming skills and really hone your throwing too.

Florian Gadsby on Instagram: "Throwing the components for a lidded jar, in fact, you may have seen me trim this vessel a week ago, (you can scroll back in my feed a little bit to see how this pot ends up looking). I’ve mixed this coarse red stoneware with 50% of my usual, smooth high-iron clay body, this makes it a more pleasant experience to throw with as otherwise it’s almost too gritty to work with on the wheel. There’s also some bronze inclusions in the mix, sprinkled in and wedged thoroughly to properly incorporate them. These should turn into red flecks that cover the surface, like blossom almost, set amongst clay that’ll reduction fire too crimson tone. Instead of my convoluted method of measuring the opening here, you can also find callipers that measure both from more sides at Covered Jars Pottery, Lidded Pottery Ideas, Lidded Jars Pottery, Florian Gadsby, Pottery Projects, Wheel Thrown Ceramics, Wheel Throwing, High Iron, Art Things
