Filoviridae (a filo + viro), quarum sodales filovira appellantur,[1] sunt familia nonnullorum virorum cognatorum quae particulas virales contagiosas filamentosas (virionta) formant, et sua genoma per RNA unius fili sensu negativo scribunt. Duo notissima familiae genera sunt Ebolavirus et Marburgvirus. Ambo vira, et nonnulla ex eorum cognatis minus notis, morbos graves in hominibus et aliis primatibus per varietates febrium haemorrgahicarum viralium efficiunt.[2] Omnia ebolavira et marburgvira sunt actores selecti,[3] pathogena gregis periculorum 4 apud Ordinem Mundi Sanitarium (circumscriptionem gradus par 4 salutis biologicae requirentia),[4] pathogena categoriae A prioritatis apud Instituta Valetudinis Nationalia,[5], actores terrorismi biologici categoriae A apud Media pro Morborum Continendorum et Prohibendorum,[6] et actores biologici pro continentia exportandi apud Gregem Australianum.[7] Eruditi exspectant cuevavira[8] mox similiter classificata iri.

Familia Filoviridarum est taxon virologicum anno 1982 creatum[2] annisque 1991,[9] 1995,[10] 2000,[11] 2005,[12] 2010[8] et 2011 emendatum.[13] Familia hodie tria comprehendit vira (genera Cuevavirus, Ebolavirus, Marburgvirus), et in ordine Mononegaviralium comprehenditur.[8] Sodales familiae Anglice appellantur filoviruses et filovirids.[8] Nomen Filoviridarum deducitur de filo nomine substantivo Latino (quod morphologiam filamentosam filoviriontium attingit) et -viridae suffixo taxinomico (quod familiam virorum significat).[2]

Secundum regulas taxorum nominandorum abs Consilio Internationali Taxinomiae Virorum institutas, nomen Filoviridae Anglice semper capitalizandum et italicizandum, ac numquam imminuendum, et a verbo familia antecedendum est. Nomina suorum sodalium (filovira' et filoviridae) litteris minusculis scribenda sunt, italicizanda non sunt, et sine articulis adhibenda sunt.[8][13]
