This album hits like a ton of bricks. I can't say how long it's been since a band reached me like this, but I can't get enough. The driving rhythm, the ghostly floating leads, the haunting and direct lyrics, the desperation in her voice... Powerful.

The most interesting music, to me, is not bound by genre but partakes of what is necessary to convey the desired vision. Sitting at the crossroads of shoegaze, post-rock, and black metal, with a dash of electronica to boot, this sounds like nothing else and I love every minute of it. Dark and brooding, yet simultaneously hopeful and yearning. Just crazy good.

Les anomalies climatiques extrêmes ont le droit à un nom : si Astronoid baptise son deuxième album Astronoid, c'est parce que l'air d'autrefois s'est intensifié jusqu'à se transformer en cyclone. Le désormais quartette américain (Mike DeMillia ayant quitté le navire) confirme son attirance pour la beauté céleste — le chant de Brett Boland est exceptionnel — mais le post-black metal est plus éclectique, se dirigeant vers le post-metal avec des traces de thrash ou de djent. C'est une tempête !

I've finally got Black Line on physical copy and this record actually blew my mind. There's so much beauty to this album but also its so crushingly heavy and extreme in an audio sense, Respire don't hold back they just let everything go and beyond, amazing!!
