Is it a generational thing, or perhaps a local thing? I’m from the Stockholm area. Never heard anything but “jag har mensen” or something along those lines.

As a Swede, I’ve never heard lingonveckan before.
Leon@pawb.socialtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•She's just grieving in her own way leave her alone guys :(English15·1 day agoThis is true, but he also thought that executions should be broadcast publicly, and that children should be forced to watch them. So I guess he would’ve viewed it as a public service kind of thing?
If he could think before he certainly can’t now, so his wishes are kind of moot anyway!

Leon@pawb.socialtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•She's just grieving in her own way leave her alone guys :(English23·1 day agoAu contraire, he was adamant about people having guns, and if innocent people die that was a price he was willing to pay. It’s just so rare for these people to put their money where their neck is.
Privacy features? Google harvests your data regardless of your settings. It also furthers Google’s monopoly on the web. I’m sure anyone can see the problem with an advertising giant hungry for data being able to dictate how you access the internet, and what the internet even looks like. Google has power over all of that, split between their influence in the W3C, their Chrome browser, their Android OS, and Google Search.
Google decides what you see, how you see it, and how the underlying technology functions; that’s literally their business model.
That’s the real problem with Chrome and any Chromium based browser.
Google really needs to be kicked out of the W3C and have Chrome taken from them.

Marketing has really worked for Brave.
A stranger calling a child they don’t know “beautiful and cute” sounds off regardless of the age, honestly.

I don’t even see how AI is going to be applicable in Grindr. Such a weird decision.

Leon@pawb.socialto Linux@programming.dev•New Runtime Standby ABI Proposed For Linux Akin To Microsoft Windows' "Modern Standby"English17·2 days agoI feel this. Initially I just closed the lid on my work laptop, but I kept waking up to my work monitor just sitting there shining in the middle of the night, because despite having put it in hibernate, it decides to spontaneously wake up and sit at the login screen. Couldn’t ever fix that, so now I unplug it when I quit my workday.
Leon@pawb.socialto Tesla@lemmy.zip•Tesla drivers are buying emergency tools to avoid being trapped insideEnglish2·2 days agoThis was always so stupid. It’s just like how the car doesn’t have a crumple zone. The crumple zone and the windshields breaking in a particular fashion isn’t because they’re poorly designed, it’s literally for safety reasons. Removing that makes the vehicle less safe.
He doesn’t care though, because it’s all about cool.
Leon@pawb.socialto Games@lemmy.world•Nvidia GeForce Now’s Time Limit Will Stop Gamers After 100 Hours Each MonthEnglish41·2 days agoYeah, I’ll own that.
The reason people can’t afford a system is because NVidia is screwing with the market in the name of AI. Before that they were doing the same in the name of crypto. They’re one of the big companies manipulating politics in their favour, against the better interest of the general populace. They’re standing alongside the companies that are pushing for mass-surveillance, they’re pushing for people to lose their jobs, and for all the other nefarious ways AI is being applied.
But at least we can ignore our culpability and blame a computer when it decides to bomb a bus of brown school kids on the other side of the planet now, I guess.
Leon@pawb.socialto Games@lemmy.world•Nvidia GeForce Now’s Time Limit Will Stop Gamers After 100 Hours Each MonthEnglish10·2 days agoAye, this is premium pricing, not necessarily premium quality. The biggest hassle I have with my PC comes from NVidia and their bullshit.
Leon@pawb.socialto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Are we deprogramming empathy in the US?English3·2 days agoThe idea that the president used to act as a role model is so bizarre to me as a Swede. We’ve had prominent political figures that have had very good reputations, but I can’t imagine anyone considering a politician as a role model. They’re just people that, hopefully, are doing their job. Wanting to emulate a politician, like a prime minister, or a president, just feels scarily like hero worship. Very culty.

Leon@pawb.socialto World News@lemmy.world•Boiling lobsters alive to be banned in UK animal cruelty crackdownEnglish2·4 days agoAh. Well there’s our core difference then. I view suffering as an inevitability that we should do our best to minimise wherever possible. You clearly don’t.
Interesting.
It likely tries to read these whole thing as a sentence hence “thorium juice stove gui”.
