If DOGE really wanted to do something, they should have stopped all payments to Adobe and their ilk for anything with a suitable open source alternative. As it stands, everything they “saved” and more is going towards the record 1 trillion Pentagon budget that will never be audited. Guess they told Trump not to fuck with their blood money or the sniper won’t miss next time.

melfieto A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Actual text of Samantha Fulnecky's assignment, paper, and professors' comments6·3 days agoI remember a student in class threw a fit about not being able to cite the Bible as a source. She showed the professor a website demonstrating how to cite the Bible in APA format as “proof” that the Bible can in fact be cited.

Then companies started putting ass-partame and other garbage in it so people could continue drinking dessert for hydration and supposedly not put on weight.
I have a mini PC for gaming and originally installed Mint, but switched to Bazzite to see if it would fix an issue with my XBox controllers cutting out. It didn’t, and I also didn’t notice any better performance in games. After coming to the conclusion I’d have to rebase to uninstall Steam (I only use Lutris), I decided immutable is cool, but I’ll stick with Mint.

melfieto Privacy@lemmy.ml•People with nothing to hide need not be bothered about surveillance, Supreme Court says5·7 days agoCouldn’t agree more with all of that. Then there are the scumbag bail bond companies where you’re out a substantial sum to borrow enough money to make bail if you’re unlucky enough not to have the full bail amount sitting in the bank.
melfieto Privacy@lemmy.ml•People with nothing to hide need not be bothered about surveillance, Supreme Court says60·7 days agoYears ago, I read about a guy who rode his bike past a house that was being robbed. The police acquired data from Google placing him in the area at that time. While he didn’t do anything wrong and had nothing to hide, I assume he had to hire a lawyer and go through a time-consuming and stressful process to prove his innocence. That was the turning point for me where I began focusing heavily on privacy.
This stood out to me as well. So if she weren’t so shit at teaching, she could’ve raped more children without legal consequences? 10 kids started the year not being able to do basic division and now they can factor polynomials like pros, so her rape budget is 3 students this year.
